PAINTINGS in flax and cotton
In my artistic practice I have experimented with making paintings and sculptures from plants. The technique has its roots in old Asian craft tradition. Different fibers (flax, stinging nettles, tulips, cotton etc.) determine how I break down and rebuild the fibers since they have different properties of strength, shrinkability and tactility. In paintings I apply the images layer on layer (on gauze). They are dyed with different natural pigments. Aluminum or steel frames are used since the fiber contracts with great strength when drying, causing ordinary wooden frames to twist or break.

BREATHE Exhibition in Oslo Cathedral 2013
BREATHE is a series of thoughts about life and death, where religions and cultures intersect: an attempt to find common human points of view, rather than to emphasize differences. In my work, passion is not just about the Passion of Christ and strong emotions, but about being accepting, permitting and patient. In the sculptures and paintings, life's fleeting nature is a recurring theme.e. Humility and charity are also key inspirations for the works that will adorn the Crypt café and the main part of the Oslo Cathedral during the Church Music Festival and the Easter holidays.
